(original article can be found by clicking here!)

"Denver, CO -- Hundreds of Americorps volunteers, volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and eighth-graders at Hamilton Middle School worked together Friday to construct a new quarter-mile walking trail around the school.

While building the track, students and volunteers were also expected to plant trees and flowers to improve the landscapes of Hamilton and neighboring Holm Elementary.

The project is led by Hamilton Middle School’s Wellness Committee. Hamilton is one of 50 DPS schools that have Wellness Committees aimed at improving nutrition, increasing opportunities for physical activity and increasing the involvement of students, families and the community.

Hamilton’s new walking trail is valued at approximately $80,000.

The supplies needed for the trail and the food for the volunteers were donated by members of the community, including: Albert Frei and Sons, Einstein’s Bagels, Whole Foods, Anthony’s Pizza, Kaladi’s Coffee, Oogave Natural Sodas, Aspen Pure Water, Eldorado Springs Water, and Talabrese Trucking.

Any additional costs will be offset by Hamilton's Fall Fundraiser."
